We at the University of Oregon and University Housing are dedicated to creating a respectful, positive, and inclusive community for all our residents. Celebrating our diverse community and challenging racism, homophobia, sexism, and other forms of oppression are key to a community's success and the future success of students.
While we respect everyone's right to a personal viewpoint, we are an academic community that is part of a larger community and world that is increasingly diverse. In addition, technology, business, and educational opportunities have made it necessary for all of us to think of ourselves as world citizens. All of us will benefit from increasing our ability to understand and communicate effectively with people who are different from us. A fundamental starting point for this is treating each other respectfully.
If you are an admissions applicant, you can apply online using DuckWeb once you've received your UO ID number and PAC number
supplied in letter from Admissions. To apply online you will need to pay the $30 application fee electronically, either with a
major credit card or an electronic check.
- DuckWeb (online residence hall application)
Please note: Law and AEI applicants do not have early access to DuckWeb, and thereby should
complete either a paper or PDF form.
All applicants to the university will be mailed Housing brochures and application materials within two weeks of applying for
admission to the university. Each years application process is slightly different as we expand our services and options to
residents.
Step 1: 2010-11 Application (pdf, 372 KB)
Step 1: 2009-10 Application (pdf, 723 KB)
Step 2: Application Guide
Ongoing
Apply for housing as soon as possible. Space is generally awarded on a first-come basis, and housing is not guaranteed, so applying as early as possible (after applying for admission to the UO) is strongly encouraged. Housing applications received after the halls have reached full occupancy are accepted, but applicants are added to a waiting list and will only be offered housing if space is available.
November - September (rolling)
Housing brochures and applications are mailed to all students who have applied to the university. Or you
can apply online using Duckweb once you've received your UO ID number and PAC number supplied in a letter from Admissions.
April *
Housing contracts are mailed to the earliest applicants. To confirm your housing contract, you must return the signed contract with the $250 prepayment by the deadline stated on your cover letter.
Keep your eye out for a FIG information packet to find out more about the early response option and FIG sign up.
June to September
Rolling mailings of housing contracts take place. For instance, an applicant whose materials reach us after March 15 may receive a housing contract during one of these mailings.
June 15, July 15, and August 1
Cancellation deadlines. You will receive a credit for all or part of your prepayment if your written notice is postmarked by June 15 ($250 credit), July 15 ($175 credit), or August 1 ($100 credit). There is no credit after August 1.
Mid August
Welcome packet (including room, phone number, address, and roommate information) is mailed to those who have secured housing by returning the signed contract and $250 prepayment.

While we accept applications for Winter and Spring terms, there is no guarantee of housing for those terms. Housing contracts for spring term will be mailed to the earliest applicants on a space available basis beginning in early February. Room assignments are given at check-in.
If you apply for housing after the halls have reached capacity or if you miss the deadline for returning your housing contract, you will be placed on a waiting list. Being on a waiting list does not guarantee that you will receive a housing assignment but does increase your chances of receiving an assignment if space in the residence halls becomes available. Spaces are offered to those on the waiting list based on several variables such as distance between permanent residence and the university, specific residence hall program requested, and the date of application. If spaces are not likely to become available, the housing office will notify you in writing by August.
